Course Policies:
- Student Work
- Students will be expected to complete assignments outside of class time on a regular basis. All students are expected to read class material, think critically and write effectively. Students are expected to use complete sentences, proper grammar and correct spelling in every written assignment.
- Binder
- Each student is required to maintain a neatly organized binder for the duration of the class consisting of the following items: 1) Warm-ups, 2) Vocabulary, 3) Notes, 4) Tests/Quizzes, and 5) Activities/Homework
- Students will be required to bring their binder to class every day. The teacher will give regular guidance on how to construct and maintain the binder.
- Groups/Labs
- Students will work in groups regularly. If a student cannot follow directions and maintain good behavior during group activities, they will be removed from the activity and given an alternate assignment to complete.
- Extra Credit
- There will be extra credit given on a limited basis. All course work should be up to date before a student can ask for extra credit.
- Late Work
- Work turned in late, that is not associated with an absence, will result in a grade drop to 50%. Late work will not be accepted after the quarter has ended.
- Absences
- If a student is absent, it is HIS/HER responsibility to get all late work from the teacher and return it in a timely manner. Missed work due to an absence will be given additional time and full credit will be allowed for each day of a verifiable and excused absence.
- Students will have 2 days for every day absent to complete missed work or the grade will be reduced as late work (see late work policy above). Exceptions will be made in unique, deserving situations as determined by the teacher and/or administrator.
- Computers
- Students will have assignments using the computer and internet throughout the year.
- Students will be given time during class to work on computer based assignments. Students without a computer and/or internet access at home may come to Homework Haven, in the library each morning, after school tutoring or mastery time for additional work time.
- Students will have assignments using the computer and internet throughout the year.
- Report Cards
- Students will receive four report cards during the year. Progress reports will be given out every three weeks.
