My name is Emily Kremer. I am originally from Gilroy, California, the garlic capitol of the world. I spent 4 years in Missouri before moving to Hillsborough, NC where I attended both middle and high school. I then moved to Washington, DC where I studied Biology in college and spent over 5 years performing research at the NIH in a dermatology/immunology lab within the National Cancer Institute. In addition to my laboratory research, I spent 3 years working in a medical clinic with patients. My role as a patient educator led me to teaching. I truly enjoy working with the middle grades and look forward to a wonderful year with my new students!
Outside of the classroom I enjoy working on my family’s sheep farm and spending time with my husband, 2 dogs, family and friends.
My teaching philosophy:
I believe relevance is key to learning and classroom engagement. Science is all around us, applying what you learn to everyday life is important for lifelong learning. My class will teach students to think, not simply to memorize and repeat. Students will be challenged through a variety of learning experiences including collaborative activities, hands on experiments, student led discussions and cross-curricular projects.
Think like a proton and stay positive!
